Nap Time

Alexander is down for his morning nap! It's 10:33 am, I am watching Gandhi on TCM and trying to decide between taking a short nap, or getting dressed and working on sewing some checkbook covers from some scrap fabrics I have laying around.

I threw out the quilt I was working on (fabric warped when I washed it) and now I wish I had kept those little, salvageable pieces to use on a cool checkbook cover pattern I found. Oh Well. I am going to start a very simple quilt for Alexander soon! That will be exciting. It has owls on it, of course, to match his nursery which is woodland animals.

Latest pictures of Alexander!

Last night Alexander did not sleep well. At all. He went to bed around 9, woke up just before midnight as we were getting in bed. And guess who was WIDE AWAKE? This happened two nights ago too. So frustrating. We gave him a bottle and put him back in his crib. 45 minutes later (around 1am), guess who is awake again? So we put him in his swing. He sleeps until 4. Wake up, give him a bottle. He sleeps until 5:30. I rock him a little and he falls back asleep until 6:15. And he has been up since.

I feel like he has back tracked. For several weeks he was going to bed around 9 or 10, mostly sleeping through the night, and if he did wake up (which he did about 75% of the time) he would wake up at 3am, then sleep again until 6:30 or 7. Someone needs to sit down with him and explain to him that he needs to try to go back to sleep, even if he feels hungry. Geez Louise. It's like he's a baby or something.

Well, sitting here typing this I have realized I should take a little nap myself. Jason had an appointment on campus at 10am today, so he will be back around 11:30 I bet. Let's hope I'm still asleep when he gets home!

Oooh dear

It has been 5 months+ since I wrote last. How despicable.
Well, yesterday Alexander was 6 months old. SIX MONTHS. I have survived 1/2 a year of being a mother. Tomorrow is father's day and I am so excited for Jason to be celebrating his very first father's day as a daddy. :) (my first mother's day was wonderful thanks to Jason & Alexander!)
He and Alexander have become quite attached to each other. When Alexander and I went out of town to Houston last week it was rough on all of us. Alexander missed his daddy quite a bit and I don't think he has quite gotten over it yet. Every time Jason leaves the room, Alex still gets upset. Perhaps he thinks that he won't see his daddy for another week! It makes me so happy to see the wonderful bond that has formed between father & son.
While in Houston, Kelly sent home a toy called "My First Laptop" that is super cute. You press the buttons and it lights up, plays music, talks. There is even a little mouse. The other morning, Jason and Alex were sitting at the table downstairs (Alex in his high chair) and they were both playing on their laptops. Daddy with his coffee and baby with his bottle. If only I had my camera (which is broken now!). Maybe the moment will recreate itself at some point.
My goal is to get back to posting once a week with some cute story about Alexander, or something of that nature.
I can't believe how quickly my baby is growing up! And I can't wait to share more of him with all of you!
