34 Weeks!

Well, I am now starting my 34th week, according to my doctor. Yup. That means 6 weeks left! Frankly, I am hoping it is not a day over!

All day today I was sooo exhausted. Headache, general ickiness. Don't worry, no fever! And as tonight has rolled around my hands have started to swell, and my feet hurt. Probably from laying around TOO much. I just can't win!

Anyway, at 34 weeks Alexander is almost 5 pounds! Can you believe it! Because he is growing so well, I wouldn't be surprised if he was already about 5 pounds! BabyCenter.com compares him to an "average cantalope." As my friend Katie said, "Average? I feel like he is above average. I feel like is the size of an extraordinary cantalope!" haha, I couldn't agree more... and you're welcome for the shout-out Katie! :P

So what am I most excited about right now? My baby shower of course, and all the people that are coming to it! My mom is flying down Friday, and my sister Kelly, her hubby Michael, and nephew Gabriel are driving up on Friday! I will get to see friends that I haven't seen in a very long time (Regan, Lavinia) and friends from Denton that I have missed being near (Jenn, Leah), as well as a few other awesome people! Then of course, there is the rest of the families, both Jason & I's aunts and cousins! It should be super fun, and I can't wait to see everyone together. The next time everyone is all together like this will probably be when baby Alexander arrives! So exciting!

Well, it's getting late and my feet are begging to be put up and rubbed! Thanks for reading :)

Losing sleep, gaining weight

Well, last night Alexander kicked and kicked and then when he finally settled down around 2:30, my legs and feet were still sore and I felt like I just had to kick them around. So I did. I am glad Jason was fast asleep because he probably would have thought I was a 5-year-old throwing a fit the way I was acting... and to be honest, I kind of felt that way. I was sooo upset that I had been laying in bed for hours and had only caught about 5 minutes of Zzz's. Consequently, I turned off my alarm and slept until about 11:30.

The whole day my legs felt fine, but my belly just felt...heavy. I suppose it should since I am carrying around a baby weighing over 4 pounds, and apparently I am carrying him all "out front" and that's why my belly gets sore. PLUS, the fact that he is growing so quickly right now (according to my readings) is probably lending to the discomfort.

Jason has asked me a couple of times what it feels like when Alexander moves around, and the only way I can think of to describe it is what I read in one of the baby books. "It feels like popcorn popping." It's true. When he kicks or makes a sudden movement it's like having a giant piece of popcorn BURST from a small kernel into a white fluffy piece of popcorn inside my belly. And when he does flips? It's like waves! It's the most bizarre feeling because all of the sudden you are so aware that there is a little human inside you! *sigh* oh my.

Big news from the doctor!!

Sooo Jason and I went to the doctor yesterday for a check-up. We had a sonogram and Alexander looked perfect!! He weighs about 4.2 pounds right now and Dr. Garner believes that he will gain another 3-4 pounds, coming out around 7.5-8 pounds. Big baby boy! Then again, I was over 8 pounds and I was my mom's smallest baby. Oh dear.

Since he is doing so well, and growing and filling out, Dr. Garner believes that I will have him in 7-8 weeks. My original due date was December 17. Now it looks like he could be born anytime from December 3 onwards. This is crazy! I am sooo thankful that he is doing well after having such a rough start, but up to three weeks sooner than the original due date? That's definitely unexpected.

Now I guess all I can do is wait and enjoy my last weeks being baby-free. Naps, movies, having time to myself. *sigh* Today I enjoyed my time by doing some shopping for some more maternity clothes. All my pants have gotten a bit too tight around my belly, so I had to buy maternity pants a size up. Also, some more maternity shirts in a bigger size. Yay new wardrobe!!

This weekend Jason has gone rock climbing and will be back Sunday. Also this week? My mom is coming to visit! Busy week for me I suppose. And busy for growing baby! Hope you have a good week!

Less than 10 weeks!

So I am kind of confused with the whole timeline of my pregnancy, because according to BabyCenter and my calendar I have about 9 1/2 weeks left until my due date, making me about 7 months pregnant! But my doctor says I am actually more like 6 1/2 months pregnant. Pregnancy is actually 42 weeks, not 40, blah blah technicalities blah. ANYWAY, I am sticking to the fact that I am currently at 30 weeks, and will be a full 7 months pregnant at the end of the week, because that is what I counted out based on a due date of December 17th. Any objections? :P

Alexander is over 3 pounds now! He is about 16" long. Baby center compares carrying him right now to carrying four navel oranges. Also, they briefly mention him kicking and moving. Really? REALLY? I hadn't noticed! Sitting in bed at night reading, my belly looks like a wave pool as he moves around. He seems to favor my right side so forget about laying on my right side or bending to my right. He gets cranky and kicks up under the ribcage, and oh boy that's fun!

Are you ready for some really good news? My Hyperemesis has subsided. A LOT. In fact, I have been taking the pump out during the day and keeping it in overnight for the past week or two. Last night I didn't put the pump in at all. I have had my pump out for 25 hours and I feel great! I have taken oral zofran tabs: two yesterday, and one this morning, just to keep the nausea away. If I never have to look at that pump again it will be too soon.

Nursery decorating is going soo well! We have our crib & bedding, a dresser that we are using as a changing table, a shelf for storage baskets (the baskets we registered for at Babies R Us, hint hint :P ), a cute rug, and our latest addition- CURTAINS!

Well, now that I have SUFFICIENTLY rambled, I am off to do something productive (who knows what that is). See you all soon at various baby showers! <3
