Gallstones!

So, on Saturday night/Sunday morning I was rudely awakened by a severe pain in my abdomen. After about 10 minutes of trying to cure it with water and different positions, I woke Jason up and we called the doctor. While the doctor on call wasn't afraid of it being anything horrible or life-threatening to me or the baby she still wanted me to come in to the hospital because of the severity of the pain. Luckily, the traffic on the tollroad isn't heavy at 3am!

We finally arrived at the hospital after an extremely painful and bumpy car ride. The doctor had informed me that though the only entrance open is the ER entrance, that I could go to a door by Labor & Delivery and be buzzed in. Mr. Security Guard didn't want to let me in though so I am pretty sure I might have raised my voice a little at him and started to cry, telling him "My doctor told me to come to labor & delivery and buzz in. I am 35 weeks pregnant and in severe pain. You NEED to open this door now!" After a heavy sigh and some mumbling on his end of the speaker phone the doors swooshed open for me.

Blood was taken, a sonogram was (painfully) done, and they determined I had gall stones, but that my gallbladder wasn't show signs of infection. They explained to me that I needed to be kept for atleast 24 hours for observation, during which I would not be allowed to eat or drink. They hooked me up to an IV and gave me a shot of demerol and phenergan, and I was OUT. Jason and I were both thankful to get some sleep!

Sadly, this was all the same day as the Delta Gamma baby shower! It was rescheduled luckily, and I am thankful that I had some sisters visit me in the hospital.

I spent all day Sunday, Monday, and the first part of Tuesday in the hospital. I was released around 11am Tuesday morning.

Gall stones? GALL STONES? Well, apparently the hormones that go crazy during pregnancy mess with your digestive system which includes the gallbladder. Normally a simple scope procedure is done to remove the gallbladder, but since my belly is so big there is no extra room to get to it! Soooo this means that right now I am on SUPER lowfat diet and after I have little baby Alexander I will most likely have to get it removed. Yippee!

Aside from that AWESOME adventure, things are going well. Our nursery is coming together sooo well, and we are getting more excited every day! I feel like Alexander is going to be coming early... I have felt a few Braxton Hicks contractions (some showed up on the monitors at the hopsital!) and I think my belly is starting to drop! In just a few days I will be starting my 36th week... Go to BabyCenter.com to see how he is doing!
